Murals & Street Art
During the summer 2015 Lara was employed by Carter-Builder to complete a mural on a construction site hoarding in Oxford, UK. The annual competition takes place as part of the 'Good Contractor's Scheme' encouraging building contractors to engage the local community with new architectural developments. Lara worked with aspiring young artists from Botley Primary School to create an image of the Oxford landscape and all the local wildlife that the children had seen there. The mural won the competition and was donated to the school so that they could continue to enjoy it.
CARTER BUILDER HOARDING COMPETITION
WINNER!
This was a private commission for a Henri Rousseau inspired mural in a bathroom. The client wanted elements from Rousseau’s brightly coloured and naïve styled jungle paintings copied into their bathroom to add depth, vibrancy and humour to an ‘every-day’ experience. The cheerful parrots and insects brought the room to life, while the lioness positioned directly opposite the toilet gave the uncanny feeling of being observed, much to the amusement of the client.
