About Lara

 

Lara is an artist specialising in contemporary fine art; mainly abstract painting.  Primarily she works in acrylic on canvas, often adding oils, charcoal and varnish among other things during the creative process. Occasionally, Lara ventures into other mediums altogether, such as sketching, digital media, film, textiles, sculpture, installations and street art.

 

Thematically, Lara's artwork is heavily influenced by the natural world and more recently, by her career as an architect, frequently featuring aspects of the built environment. Many of her pieces explore the liquidity and movement of water in the form of rain or ocean, expressed through a splash of vibrant blues, greens and purples. In contrast, a concrete solidity is found in her fantastical city scapes, reminiscent of the futuristic visions common in scifi culture.
